Lunchtime Learning Lab

You Say Find Your Passion, I Say Find Motivation - Free for Members

We all have those days. Sometimes, it’s hard to get dressed, make your way to the office, and focus on the tasks at hand. Even if it’s just once a year, it can hold you back.

If you’re like me, you’re tired of being told to find your passion, or do what you love. Not one person I know loves what they do every single minute of every single day.

So, how do we throw out those moments when we lack enthusiasm? How do we move forward and continue to achieve our goals? The key is to stay motivated. But staying motivated is different for everyone. Finding your way will help you unlock the doors so that you can continue to be successful.

During this learning lab, attendees will:

• Identify the behaviors that hold them back
• Learn motivation tips and tricks for success at work
• Discover habits to get and stay motivated

From the President

Be ready for a #REMARKABLE year

Merriam Webster defines remarkable as worthy of being or likely to be noticed, especially as being uncommon or extraordinary. How can we help members and their firms be remarkable? That’s the question I posed during the summer board planning session.

This year, the GCSMPS Board has committed to benefit each and every one of you. Our programming is forward-thinking and thought-provoking; we are prepared to offer you unique sessions with credible speakers, important topics, and ample time for networking. The GCSMPS Board and respective committees have worked hard to plan content that will help you and your firm become remarkable.

Here’s what’s coming up this year:

  • Our year kicks off on September 13 with Bringing Back the Best of Build Business 2017. Don’t miss the opportunity to get a recap of the top sessions from the national conference.
  • Join us on September 21 for a panel discussion from some Homegrown Developers.
  • With all the great project tour suggestions in our membership survey we’re planning two tours – one in October and one in May.
  • Implement micro-volunteering and help members engage with the chapter without asking for a huge time commitment.
  • Continue growing our Student Education Program (STEP) to better prepare the next generation of A/E/C professionals.
  • A commitment to invest in a local nonprofit that encourages young women to pursue STEM-related careers (Rosie’s Girls).
  • Finally, we’ll cap off our year with a 35th anniversary celebration. Thirty-five years as a chapter – that’s a remarkable achievement.

As we go through this programming year, I want to know - what do you need to be remarkable?

Jennifer Danforth, CPSM
GCSMPS Chapter President
