    The Business Development Associate for KZF Design’s Transportation Group is an outgoing door-opener, a charismatic and collaborative strategic thinker with business acumen and an entrepreneurial inclination. This person is intelligent with a keen sense of inquiry and an ability to inspire the same in others by being an excellent communicator. He or she possesses a positive, outgoing personality, confidence and a strong kinesthetic sense. 

    The BD Associate should have knowledge of the public sector and the challenges and opportunities presented by working within a governmental framework. They should have the initiative and ability to inspire confidence in clients by being a credible professional. He or she must display strong organizational skills as well as clear and concise communication skills. They are a ‘concierge,’ a facilitator, a person who acts with urgency, meets deadlines and delivers on promises.

    Experienced in the civil/transportation market preferred, this person is a connected networker who knows how to hunt for good clients and good projects.  He or she has the ability to foster a sense of camaraderie and high morale with integrity and capability.

    The ideal candidate is goal-oriented, client-centered and open-minded and has experience either as a technical or service marketing professional.



    The responsibilities of the BD Associate include the following:

    1. “Make and Keep the Promise” to clients and staff
    2. Set and achieve overall division strategy and objectives
    3. Maintain and improve division profitability through meeting/exceeding sales goals
    4. Increase market share in transportation market
    5. Strengthen relationships with current clients/understand key clients
    6. Develop new relationships/expand client base
    7. Find new opportunities and qualify leads – be an “opportunity miner”
    8. Listen to and understand client needs to maximize opportunities – then relate appropriate information/needs back to Market leaders
    9. Establish common goals and expectations with clients
    10. Participate in the proposal and interview process
    11. Establish clear brand identity internally and externally




    • Proven track record of Business Development or marketing
    • Proven track record developing sales leads
    • Comfortable with 50% out-of-office


    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience
    • 5 years of Business Development experience
    • Outside interests - Community involvement
    • Involvement with civic or professional organizations
    • Experience with public, government agencies and procurement



    • Engineering background
    • Experience with CRM, Salesforce or other compatible system
    • Knowledge of civil/transportation market
    • Understanding of A/E/C industry
    • 10 years of business development experience
